We are glad to offer a village house with a garden for holiday stays in North Spain, in the Cantabria region. The little village of Cobijón is far from crowded beaches of the Mediterranean. Halfway between the wild oceanic coast and the ragged mountain peaks of Picos de Europa lies our Surf & Climb house - Casaudias.

House

The house is an old, typical, stone cantabrian dwelling. The house has two floors. Downstairs you will find a living room, kitchen, bathroom and a partly roofed terrace. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a balcony. The terrace and balcony are south or southwest oriented. The house is surrounded by a garden where you can relax or barbecue on the terrace if you like.

The surroundings and available sport activities

The house is located in a peaceful village of Cobijón in Udías county - between the towns of Comillas and Cabezón de la Sal. Compared to the busy coastal towns of San Vicente and Comillas, in Cobijón you will find pleasant tranquility.

The closest beaches and surfing spots are only fifteen minutes driving away. In twenty minutes you reach the spots in Oyambre National Park, the best beaches for surfing in all of Cantabria. Also the Tagle and Suances beaches are not so far.

Different orientation of beaches also grants you surfing in almost every condition. When there is only a little swell you can go to Los Locos beach in Suances or Playa de Gerra and Playa de Meron which all are magnets for swell. Big waves are usually coming from northwest and when they do, the surfers visit Pajaro Amarillo beach or Playa de la Concha, beaches shielded from this direction.

Right from the coast you can see the 2500 m. s. l. high peaks of Picos de Europa. The beautiful mountains offer climbing in alpine style possibilities, for instance bigwall Naranjo de Bulnes.

High quality sport climbing is only forty minutes drive from the house. The area is called Desfiladero de la Hermida. Here you will find plenty of fine limestone routes with characteristic tufas, for example in Rumenes. Even closer is a couple of climbing spots on the Pechon Peninsula, with two sectors just above water.

You can also do some rafting and canoeing in the rivers Rio Deva and Rio Nansa. Swimming and relaxing in clear water with many natural pools during summer months is also possible. You might even meet a salmon wandering a river!

Let’s not forget the local caves. Udias county is especially famous for its undergrounds, caves and old mines. Many of them you can visit freely, for example Cueva de Resquano, which you can enter just a hundred meters from our house. Anyway, the whole region is full of caves, the famous Altamira with its prehistoric wall paintings also lies in Cantabria.

Cantabria is a definitely outstanding location for a wide range of outdoor sport activities, hospitable and welcoming place for travelers. That is why this region is a favorite holiday destination for the Spanish themselves.
